The brief
A luxury service on a slow website
Mr Charles clients expect the car at the kerb on time and the yacht ready when they arrive. The website took around eight seconds to load on a phone and scored in the 50s on mobile Lighthouse. With five country sites, every change had to be made five times.
What we changed
One design system for five sites
We rebuilt the front end from scratch and moved all five country sites onto one shared set of components, adapted for each market. Speed was a design requirement from the first day.
What stayed
What stayed the same
The backend and the service catalogue didn't move, and the Mr Charles team kept working as before.
Result
Faster pages, and one place to make changes
Mobile Lighthouse went from the 50s to 99+. Pages now load in about one second instead of eight. Updates are made once and appear on all five sites.
The numbers

| Metric | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Lighthouse score, mobile | 50s | 99+ |
